That's a great idea!
We use Navionics on our boats during our classes and include navigation specifically in our 103 and 104 classes.
We will add 30 minutes on Navionics to our current 105 class as well to help relate the functionality of a chart plotter to paper plotting.
I would be interested in a Navionics class to apply what I have learned in the ASA 105 Coastal Navigation CLass
We allow minors to participate in classes if accompanied by a responsible adult and following discussion with the instructors. ASA certification can be provided to ages 16 and above.
Do you provide sailing classes to children?
We have four active instructors currently and one is a woman (me):
Todd Evans, Jim Openshaw, Dave Wilson, Amy Purves
We are ASA certified and have USNSA D-skipper quals. In the spring, we have an ASA Instructor's Qualification Clinic planned for six of our experienced members, which includes two women. So yes, we will have women instructing next year!
Who are the instructors? Are there any women instructors?
Yes, ANSA is considering offering private classes in 2021, particularly if COVID restrictions are still in place.
Will ANSA be offering any private lessons?
I would like to see some day classes on the water that are refreshers and practice with specific topics, not connected to an ASA certification.
What training are members interested in for the next season? What questions do members have about our program?
