ASA 114 Catamaran Cruising
ANSA offers ASA 114 Catamaran cruising as an optional combined 104 class. Students with ASA 103 and demonstrated at least 80 hours minimum on the water sailing may qualify to take the 104/114 combination or students with ASA 104 may join the course and obtain the 114 certification only.
We provide this course on a chartered 40 to 44′ luxury Catamaran exactly as you would charter on the Bay or anywhere in the world.
This course helps prepare you with first-hand, onboard, experiences that prepare you to skipper an auxiliary-powered sailing cruising catamaran of approximately 40 to 45 feet in length during a multi-day liveaboard cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of catamaran structure, components and features, performance under sail and power, boat systems, seamanship and safety, heavy weather operation, and emergency response are included. The course is taught on board and you will rotate between the duties and responsibilities of skipper, lookout, navigator, and crew.
This course is offered over 3 days with one overnight at anchor and one night at a destination marina. There are 3 cabins available for this course which may be occupied by 1 or 2 people each. Pricing is dependent on cabin occupancy (single or double).

The boat serves as the training platform; there are no separate classroom lectures. To make this possible, you are expected to read the textbooks in advance, study independently, practice knots, etc. prior to the class. Students will provision and share meal preparation responsibilities. We will provide instructions and contacts to coordinate ahead of time.
ANSA presents the class over three days. This is a live-aboard experience with one night planned at an anchorage and one night at a destination such as St Michael’s.
The course fee includes required ASA exams and ASA certification. The price is the same for combined 104/114 and 114 alone.
Each course will be taught with a minimum of four students and a maximum of six students. Your registration will be confirmed once payment is received.
