Membership Policy:

ANSA is a non-profit sailing club and membership is required to take a class or sail with ANSA.  Membership is open to the general public.

New members may register for any training class and following successful registration, will be provided a logon to this website.  They may then complete their membership application details and make payment.

If ASA (American Sailing Association) certification for a class is desired, ASA membership is also required.  Students must register and obtain an American Sailing ASA ID (ASID) prior to their first course.  There is no cost to obtaining an ID, however in order to enjoy the benefits of ASA membership, students must pay for membership  annually.  The ASA membership is completely separate from the ANSA membership.

PFD (Personal Flotation Device) Policy:

For insurance and safety reasons, ANSA requires students to wear PFDs at all times while OTW unless otherwise directed by the instructor or skipper.  We provide PFDs for all sailors, but you may bring your favorite as well.

ASA Text Books:

ASA publishes textbooks for each of the ASA classes.  These texts are required in order to complete the courses and pass the exams.  It is beneficial to obtain the books in advance of the classes in order to have time to study and complete practice exercises.  Students may purchase the ASA textbooks on their own from ASA.COM or other sources online.  Due to the difficulties in shipping books in large volumes to multiple locations, it is most efficient for students to purchase their own books to be shipped directly to them.  There are also digital versions available. If any student chooses not to purchase a book, then ANSA will provide a loaner book on the first day of class.

Waiver Policy:

For ASA and ANSA insurance reasons a signed waiver is required before any OTW portion of a training or club sail.

Emergency Contact:

After your ANSA membership is active, please go to your member profile and complete your Emergency Contact information.  You may also check the Waiver box here to complete the waiver after reviewing it.

Payment Policy:

Students must make full course payment in order to confirm their registration for a course.  Payments may be made through this website,  Zelle, Venmo, or by check.  Registration is based on the order of payments received. If a check is being mailed, please inform the treasurer@ansa.org to hold your spot pending receipt.

Payments must be received 21 days prior to the scheduled start date.   Payment is due immediately if the class is scheduled to start in less than 21 days.

Waitlist Policy:

When a class registration is full, students may sign up for the Waitlist.  If a space becomes available, the students will be contacted in the order that they joined the Waitlist.  Please ensure that your contact information (email and phone) is accurate so that you can be reached quickly if a space becomes available.  You do not need to pay for the class (or join ANSA) to hold your spot on a Waitlist.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy:

If a student must withdraw from a course, please inform the Rear Commodore for Training email (training@ansa.org) or phone as soon as possible.

If withdrawal notification is made 14 days before the first session, the course fee will be fully refunded.  Otherwise, there will be no refunds unless extenuating circumstances exist which should be discussed with the Rear Commodore for Training.

Cancellation Policy:

A class may be cancelled due to insufficient registrants, predicted weather, or a vessel malfunction or charter availability issue.  If ANSA cancels a class, you will receive a refund in full.
